Featured Cocktail: Pineapple Rum Mint Julep (May 30th)
Mint julep is a mixed alcoholic drink, or cocktail, consisting primarily of bourbon, sugar, water, crushed or shaved ice, and fresh mint. As a bourbon-based cocktail, it is associated with the American South and the cuisine of the Southern United States in general, and the Kentucky Derby in particular. Rum can be used in place of -or in addition to- the bourbon, for an exciting twist on the original.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Pineapple-Flavored Rum
- 1/2 oz. Bourbon
- 1/2 oz. Blackstrap Rum
- 1/4 oz. Simple Syrup
- 6-8 Mint Leaves
- 1/2 tsp. Molasses
Instructions:
- Press mint leaves and simple syrup in glass or Julep cup. Don’t muddle leaves, just press on them.
- Add in bourbon, rums and molasses.
- Top with crushed ice and stir.Top with more crushed ice.
- Garnish with pineapple fronds or sprig of mint, if desired.
