Ron Añejo Arehucas Reserva Especial 12 Años (80-Proof, 12 Year Old)
This rum features a very attractive fiery-red citrine color. The aroma is very brandy-like, with rich, wet oak, layered sweetness (raw sugar, molasses), caramelized bananas and nutmeg.
In the palate it showcases a very mellow character, not as complex or sweet as the aroma suggested, comprised primarily by molasses sweetness and ending with a subtle trace of oak.
The finish is clean but lacks complexity and depth to match the wonderful notes from the aroma.
